Tagfern is a document viewer and editor that runs entirely on your Mac. This policy explains what that means for your data. The short version: the Tagfern app does not collect, store or share any personal information. If you buy directly from this website, see Purchases below.

Your documents

Files you open in Tagfern are read and saved only on your Mac, in the locations you choose. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.

No accounts, analytics or tracking

Tagfern has no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no crash or usage reporting. It does not contain third-party tracking code.

Information stored on your Mac

To be useful between launches, Tagfern keeps a few settings on your Mac only: your list of recently opened files, the view you last used, and whether the table of contents is shown. You can clear the recent files list at any time from the Open menu or the start screen.

Images in Markdown documents

If a Markdown document you open contains an image hosted on the web, Tagfern loads that image directly from the website it points to, just as a web browser would. That website may see a standard request from your Mac (such as your IP address). Tagfern does not send any other information with these requests.

Purchases

If you buy Tagfern on the Mac App Store, the purchase is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive your payment details.

If you buy Tagfern directly from this website, the purchase is sold through Link, Stripe's checkout service, under Stripe's privacy policy. Stripe collects your email address and payment details to complete the purchase and send your receipt. We can see your email address, country and purchase record in Stripe, and use them only to deliver your download and answer support requests. We never see or store your full card number, and we don't use your email for marketing unless you ask us to.

Children

Tagfern does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
